Miaoshan town in Tancheng county, Linyi, East China's Shandong province, held a Chongyang Festival themed education activity in which children made herbal foot bath packs for their grandparents.
Teachers explained the origins and customs of the Chongyang Festival and the role of ingredients such as mugwort leaves and ginger slices. The children carefully filled cloth bags with the herbs to make the packs as gifts, then took them home for their grandparents as a simple expression of filial care.
The town said it will further explore the cultural resources of traditional festivals and integrate filial piety and traditional virtues into children's daily routines based on everyday moral education.
